CLOTHES

"The best dressed person usually is the one whose clothes and accessories are so well chosen, and the entire ensemble so well harmonised, that the individual does not attract undue attention because of his or her Personal Adornment."-Napoleon Hill, 1883-1970.

The quotation above always reminds me, that, how you dress can also have a significant impact on how others perceive you. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you are dressed appropriately for the situation. Be it for a job interview, a dinner or a wedding etc."Dress Casual" may mean jeans and shorts to a group of advertising agency people; while the same words mean sports jackets or blazers and trousers at a gathering of attorneys. If you are unsure, ask. Nothing makes you feel more uncomfortable than being over- or under-dressed for an occasion.

The same hold true for work attire. Acceptable dress at one company may be entirely inappropriate for another. If you want to fit into the culture of any Company, observe how the CEO (President) dresses and follow his or her lead. If he is an entrepreneur who shuns ties and prefers sneakers/trainers to wingtips, however, proceed with caution. He may think its fine for him to dress that way in the office, but it would not work so well for the sales force to dress the same way when making sales calls on conservative companies, and the Vice president of finance would not instill much confidence in bankers if he wore jeans instead of pinstripes to a business lunch.

The kind of work you do and the type of people you are likely to come in contact with during normal course of business should also influence your attire.

Again appropriateness is the key...stone.smile
